England’s New Covid-19 Lockdown

England’s New Covid-19 Lockdown

It’s all too frustrating to find out that even though there’s fast production of Coronavirus vaccines to jab more people to safety, the new UK Covid-19 variant has stirred anxiety anew.

And so we thought everything will soon be over and things will be back to normal. Apparently, that is not the case.

Is England on lockdown?

Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently televised an announcement of a new lockdown in England.

People are advised to stay in their homes except for a number of allowable reasons.

The recommendation for the lockdown came from UK’s chief medical officers who advised that the Coronavirus threat be moved to its highest level.

As of writing, the UK already reported a spike of more than 60,000 new daily Covid-19 cases which is the all-time high since the pandemic started.

This means 1 in 30 people in London and 1 in 50 people in England are estimated to have contracted the virus as reported by the Office for National Statistics.

Although the new England lockdown is noted to be “regrettable”, the Prime Minister sees it fit to take these measures for everybody’s safety which will be reviewed after the first half of February.

Boris Johnson adds that if the 4 priority groups would be vaccinated by mid-February, the restrictions might be eased but may still remain at least until March 2021.

These tough lockdown restrictions were also put into force in Wales which started the lockdown in mid-December 2020 and in Northern Ireland which started the lockdown on December 26, 2020.

What Are England’s Current Lockdown Regulations?

England’s new lockdown regulations entail people to strictly stay in their homes and only allowed to go out for essential purposes.

WWW.UK.GOV has outlined a comprehensive list of guidelines for the new lockdown. Here is the gist of it.

Primary and secondary school students will shift to online learning in the meantime.

The only reasons you can go out of your home are:

  • Work that involves going to somebody else’s house like babysitting, home cleaning, tradespeople, and social work.
  • Childcare, training, and medical appointments or emergencies
  • Once a day outdoor exercise which includes meeting 1 other person to exercise outdoors
  • Essential shopping for food and medicine
  • Communal religious worship
  • Meeting childcare support which includes moving from one parent to another when they are separated
  • House moving activities

Those clinically vulnerable are advised to stay in their homes or if not possible, limit the time they spend outdoors or in public areas. As much as possible, they should only go out for medical appointments and other essential activities but not for work and school.

International travel is regulated and allowed only to allowed essential reasons.

Hospitality establishments like restaurants, pubs, and non-essential shops, as well as indoor and outdoor sports facilities, are told to close in the meantime.

The only establishments allowed to operate during this new England lockdown are:

  • Pharmacies, food shops, supermarkets, garden centers
  • Laundry shops
  • Petrol stations
  • Places of worship
  • Banks
  • Post offices
  • Medical clinics for doctors, dentists, and vets
  • Car park
  • Outdoor playground
  • Public toilets

What Can You Do?

If your business has been advised to close during the lockdown, this might not be in your favor because the income can go down to zero.

You have a family to take care of as well as employees that also do so for their families. It can be a very stressful time.

However, while waiting for the easing of the restrictions, this is the best time to boost the anti-Coronavirus safety measures in your establishment.

After all, after a few weeks, when things hopefully get better, you’ll be back in business but the threat of Coronavirus might still be there.

Until everybody, not just in England, are vaccinated, we can never be too safe.

If you’ve enforced wearing facemasks for your workforce and clients before the new lockdown and made sure social distancing is practiced, there’s one more precaution you can put in place -  encouraging constant hand hygiene.

But how can you do that?

Well, while it’s recommended to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds every now and then, it might not always be practical.

The most convenient and efficient way to keep people on the lookout for hand hygiene is making sanitizer stations available.

If you’ve already had a sanitizer pump in your entrances and cashier counters, you might already realize how bothersome people seem to think of it especially when they have to pump several times before getting the sanitizer out, making the lines longer and clients more impatient.

If you think about it, it’s not the best course for a great customer experience.

So how do you practice hand hygiene conveniently?

Using touchless automatic hand sanitizer dispensers can make it happen.

In as fast as 0.2 seconds, sanitizer is swiftly dispensed making it faster for everybody to clean their hands.

When you make hand hygiene this easy and convenient, employees will have fewer chances of getting sick, keeping your workforce to 100% all the time. Plus, you encourage more business when customers see how you handily put their safety in check.

It’s never easy to keep ourselves safe in these uncertain times. However, we are not left without an action to enforce safety not just for us but for the people around us.

FACE.HANDS.SPACE

These are 3 things we can keep in mind to keep everybody Coronavirus-free.

  • Wear face masks
  • Keep your hands clean
  • Practice social distancing

We at Joint Starts are dedicated to helping you help everybody stay safe from Covid-19. Our touch-free hand sanitizer dispensers are made to help you implement a high practice of hand hygiene in your workplace for you, your workforce, and your clients.

A safe business establishment encourages people to do business with you.

While we cannot see the virus, precautions are completely visible for us to apply. If we help fight Covid-19 by following the lockdown guidelines and implementing safety measures, we’ll be one step closer to getting back to the old normal we’ve been longing for over a year now.

When that day comes, your business will be as it should be for you.
